Cycling Accident Solicitors

As a cyclist sharing the same roads as cars, lorries and trucks makes cyclists some of the most vulnerable road users. Even in low-speed accidents, cyclists can suffer serious injuries, including everything from lacerations and bruises to broken bones, brain and spinal injuries, and even psychological trauma.

Our team of lawyers are experts when it comes to claiming compensation for cycling accidents. They have over 20 years of experience successfully claiming compensation for bicycle accidents on a "No Win No Fee" basis.

Are you able to make a compensation claim for a cycling accident?

To make a successful claim, we need to establish that another road user was negligent and caused the accident in some way. We also need to demonstrate that this negligence caused your injuries. The accident may not have been caused by another road user. It may have been the fault of a local authority or the bike manufacturer.

We offer a free initial discussion to chat about your potential claim, what happened, what evidence you might have, and to talk about the options that are available to you. There is absolutely no obligation here – it’s simply a free chat to establish whether there is a potential compensation claim, or not. All you need to do is call the team on 01752 827085 or email us at teampersonalinjury@nash.co.uk

How much compensation can I get for a cycling accident?

Because every cycling accident claim is assessed individually, any compensation that you’re awarded depends on your specific circumstances. Payouts for cycling accidents depend on how severely injured you are.

There are a number of losses that can arise from a cycling accident claim, including, but not limited to, ‘general damages’, additional travel expenses and loss of earnings.

  • General damages is an award designed to compensate you for the actual injuries suffered, and the effect those have had on your quality of life.

  • Special damages are compensation for any financial losses such as loss of earnings, medical expenses, and also any costs relating to the repair or replacement of your bike, bike equipment or clothing.

How long do I have to make a cycling accident compensation claim?

Following an accident, most people will have three years to make a cycling accident compensation claim. However, the length of time the compensation claim takes, depends upon the individual circumstances of each case. One particular aspect that can slow down or speed up a claim is whether the defendant you believe was at fault, admits responsibility or not.

If the defendant you believe was at fault does not admit to being liable, your claim can take longer as there will be a negotiation process, and further evidence may be required. In some cases, it may lead to the case having to go to court for a judge to decide the outcome.

It’s therefore essential that if you have suffered an injury from a cycling accident, you speak to us as soon as possible.

Interim payments

Interim Payments

In some cases, we can request an interim payment for you which can help to reduce financial worries caused by the accident. It can also be used to pay for private treatment.  An interim payment is made before the conclusion of your claim. This can be particularly helpful if you have suffered from serious injuries as these cases can take many years before they reach a final conclusion.
